Brown Paper Wine

Crafty Dining East Sydney

This October we are proud to announce our third Crafty Dining experience as part of Sydney Craft Week and Good Food Month.

This time we are heading for East Sydney, showcasing the rich variety of contemporary furniture design, vintage fashion and dining options on the streets of East Sydney.

Brown Paper Wine is the creation of Richard Powell, his mates call him all sorts of names: Richie, Dick, and many more colourful monikers.  We first met when he supplied wines for a Surry Hills Creative Precinct function we attended a year ago. His passion and joy in introducing people to good wine was evident from the moment he poured us a glass.

He has been working in the booze world close to 20 years, from the moment he turned eighteen he was stocking shelves and filling fridges at fancy wine stores and pouring drinks at posh venues. A supplier to winemakers, worked in wine logistics, marketing, selling and making wine.

Richard likes a drink, but most importantly he loves wine. He loves everything about it: the vineyard., the barrel room, the look and feel of the bottle in hand, pulling the cork, twisting the cap. The pour, the aroma. the swirl, the colour, the depth, structure, finesse and most of all the complex simplicity.

We are thrilled that he agreed to supply vino for Crafty Dining East Sydney’s wine matches. We hope you enjoy the synchronicity of a good wine with great food.
