Our second stop for Crafty Dining in East Sydney was the very contemporary Stylecraft, stockists of 70% Australian designed & made furniture and homeware. We indulged in delicious mushroom arancini from Toki Italian Inspired located just around the corner on Crown Street.
Check out these great shots from our Crafty Dining in East Sydney event last week! This is our first stop at the Australian Design Centre. Where our guests were introduced to the gallery space by Director Lisa Cahill and her team. Featuring a couple of exhibitions including entries in the Profile 2019: Contemporary Jewellery and Object Award.
We have always wanted to do an event with Skarfe since we stumbled across the tiny, colourful store in it’s original location on Roslyn Terrace. Owner Brad McGlashan - a fellow New Zealander - kicked off his business in the same year as The Sydney Connection began so we always had plenty to talk about on our instore visits.
In a past life we worked in the interior design business, selling furniture, ceramics and glassware to interior designers and their clients. When your in an industry you always want to know who your competitors are and what they are up to. So Stylecraft was on our radar and never failed to impress with it’s modern approach and vast showroom on Liverpool Street.
This October we are proud to present our third Crafty Dining experience as part of Sydney Craft Week and Good Food Month. This time we are heading for East Sydney, showcasing the rich variety of contemporary furniture design, vintage fashion and dining options on the streets of East Sydney and Potts Point. We first discovered the Australian Design Centre in the early 2000’s when we a started attending various design shows at the original gallery.
Seasonal Concepts opened its doors in 2009 and is the collaboration of Ken Wallis and his partner TR Keller. Wallis and Keller initially wanted to create a florist unlike any other in Sydney. “We wanted to marry fresh in-season flowers with the contents of Grandma’s kitchen and Grandpa’s shed and present it with all the wonder that I experienced as a kid in the country,” says Ken.
Studio Enti is the design practice of ceramicist Naomi Taplin, producing porcelain tableware, lighting and home decor. Leading restaurants Nomad & Lotus at Barangaroo use Studio Enti's dinnerware. Each unique piece of handmade porcelain is made to be used and enjoyed. A strong belief in the necessity of good design and concepts of longevity and sustainability are the major driving forces behind the work of Studio Enti.
We checked out BEAMS Arts Festival on Saturday night in Chippendale. This year's event had expanded from the cramped laneways and alleyways of 'old' Chippendale to include the park behind Central Park. And then stretching to the all new precinct of Kensington Street situated east of the Central Park building.
