After five months of thinking about it and pulling everything together our third Crafty Dining in East Sydney event took place without a hitch!
At our first stop Australian Design Centre our twenty guests were introduced to the gallery space by Director Lisa Cahill and her team. Featuring a two exhibitions including entries in the Profile 2019: Contemporary Jewellery and Object Award.
We indulged in beef & vegetarian pan rolls and spicy cashews from award-winning restaurant Lankan Filling Station matched with a lovely crisp BPW White Label Prosecco. In the back laneway we viewed the stunning Gadigal Mural designed by Sydney artist Jason Wing, with ADC's First Nations Creative Producers Dennis Golding and Lucy Simpson. A collaborative artwork referencing both the topographical patterning and material culture of Gadigal country.
Next up was the very contemporary Stylecraft showroom, who stock 70% Australian designed & made furniture and home ware, located on the ground floor and mezzanine of a seventies style building.
Whilst enjoying the delicious mushroom arancini from Toki Italian Inspired , matched with a delicious Brown Paper Wine Pinot Grigio and a Brown Paper Wine Sangiovese, we got a sneak peek at the Commercial range on Level 24. As an amazing sunset over Sydney harbour greeted us, there were many murmurings of "I am coming back for that furniture" as everyone rushed to have a selfie in front of the floor to ceiling windows..
Our third stop was the treasure trove that is Grand Days for an effective tipple named ‘Carousel Club’ from Dulcie's Kings Cross. Venue Manager Rhiannon mixed and talked us through the all Australian wine s & spirits philosophy of the latest bar in the Cross. Our guests bought vintage accessories, clothes, records and books in between chatting over the charcuterie board. Shopping with cocktails is the way more fun!
Our final stop was Skarfe in the back streets of Potts Point. Owner Brad McGlashan dressed our ladies in silk & cotton and the room soon turned into a whirling bazaar of colour and sound as everyone tried out the merchandise. There was more excitement as the sweet and perfectly formed Kakawa Chocolates were opened and consumed on the spot.
Thanks to Brown Paper Wine for providing the perfect wine matches through out the evening.
And of course a big thanks to our fabulous guests for participating so enthusiastically in the evening and our wonderful food & beverage providers and venue hosts.
It was great to be part of Sydney Craft Week and Good Food Month once again, thanks for having us.
